Luigi Locatto

Born in Turin in 1953, he completed his classical studies and graduated in guitar,
performing concerts and teaching and at the same time cultivating lutherie. The
general characteristics, materials, weight, proportions and measurements of his
guitars are inspired by Spanish historical instruments from the early 1900s, expecially
Garcia and Simplicio. The main focus of his work is to try to achieve the expressiveness
and colour of those instruments built by the Spanish masters and to satisfy the needs
of modern concertism: instruments easy to play and with a good sound emission. The
soundboard is spruce from Val di Fiemme, the decorations are also of traditional
inspiration and the varnishing is done with shellac.
